Born in Santa Barbara, California, and raised by Christian pastor parents, Perry grew up listening to only gospel musicand sang in her local church as a child. After earning a GED during her first year of high school, she began to pursue a career in music. As Katy Hudson, she released a self-titled gospel album in 2001, which was unsuccessful. She later recorded an album with production team The Matrix and completed the majority of a solo album from 2004–05, the later of which was never released. Heidi Blair Pratt Montag is an American media personality and singer. She came to prominence with her starring role on the MTV reality series The Hills from 2006 to 2010. The series saw Montag date fellow cast member Spencer Pratt. In November 2008, the couple eloped to Mexico, though later married in the United States in April 2009. In July 2010, Montag filed for divorce after fifteen months of marriage to Pratt, but later called off the divorce. Montag began working on her first studio album, Superficial, in 2007. It was released in January 2010. In 2011, she was featured on the VH1 reality seriesFamous Food.

Since that time, Simpson has achieved many recording milestones, starred in several television shows, movies, and commercials, launched a line of hair and beauty products, and designed fragrances, shoes, and handbags for women.
